Attire:

Boating season can offer all types of weather. It is best to bring along more than you think you will need. A sweatshirt or light jacket is recommended as it can be colder out on the water. Sunscreen and head coverings are also recommended. Small children are required to wear life jackets onboard so bring along a favorite if you have one. If not, we have plenty onboard for all sizes. Comfortable light soled shoes are preferred or feel free to kick off your shoes for the ultimate relaxing experience. Please no boots or heavy footwear on the vintage decks.

Arrival time:

Please arrive at the Discovery Pier 15 minutes prior to departure. This allows time to get acquainted with the vessel and crew before dock lines are cast.

Can we bring our own food and beverage?

Yes, you are able to bring whatever snacks and beverages you would like. We will have water, ice and refrigeration on board. Soft sided coolers are permitted but please no hard coolers.

Can we have more than 6 people?

No. Althea operates under a 6-passenger charter license and is unable to accommodate larger groups. Babies and small children are included in the total passenger count. Please no animals or pets.

Is there a restroom onboard Althea?

Yes, we have a ships head onboard Althea. There are shore facilities available at Elmwood Township Park and at the Maritime Heritage Alliance Heritage Boathouse. Port-O-Johns are available on the pier.

Should I tip the crew?

Tipping is customary, but should be based on your satisfaction with the service you receive. A 15-20% gratuity is appropriate if you are happy with the performance of the captain and crew.

Refund/Cancelation policy:

Please inform us as soon as possible if there is a need to cancel or reschedule. Compass Rose Sailing Company requires 48-hour notice of the time of the cruise. If a party fails to arrive at the Discovery Pier for their reservation, they will be considered a no-show and will not be refunded.

What happens if there is inclement weather on the day of our trip?

We are constantly monitoring the weather for precipitation and wind conditions. If questionable weather arises we will be in communication with you and your party to ensure an enjoyable experience. If the captain deems the weather unsuitable for departure the trip can be rescheduled or a full refund will be issued.
